9th ZSEM Ball Held – An Evening of Unity, Knowledge and Connection

The 9th ZSEM Ball was held in the Crystal Ballroom of the Westin Zagreb Hotel, once again confirming the strength and cohesion of the community of the Zagreb School of Economics and Management. The event brought together more than 300 guests – students, alumni, professors, parents, business partners and friends of the School – who jointly celebrated togetherness, excellence and the values fostered by ZSEM.

The evening was opened by hosts Iva Magaš and Antonija Šimunić, who emphasized that the ZSEM Ball has long transcended the format of a formal event and has become a place where generations meet and the academic and business communities connect. The formal programme was attended by the Dean, the School’s management, professors, members of the Programme Council, partners and numerous alumni.

Guests were addressed by Dean Dr. Mato Njavro, who highlighted excellence, inclusiveness and innovation as the core values of ZSEM. He stressed that the strength of the institution is built through people – dedicated students, inspiring lecturers and a strongly connected community that encourages openness, development and the creation of new opportunities.

The programme of the evening was dedicated to the talents of current and former students, who presented themselves through musical and dance performances, demonstrating ZSEM’s commitment to the holistic development of its students – academically, professionally and personally.

The central part of the evening was devoted to the work of the Ivana Hodak Foundation, which has so far enabled more than 120 scholarships for talented students. Guests were addressed by Dr. Ljerka Mintas Hodak, Vice Dean of ZSEM and founder of the Foundation, who on this occasion presented awards for outstanding contributions to the Foundation to Dr. Đuro Njavro, President of the ZSEM Governing Council and one of its largest donors, and to Dora Šimunović, Secretary of the Foundation. An inspiring address by alumnus Andi Islami further highlighted how scholarships and community support can play a decisive role in professional development.

Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed a rich and diverse music and dance programme featuring current students, alumni and guests of the School. The elegant atmosphere at the beginning of the evening was set by White Quartet, while the audience was delighted by dance performances by Laura Krog and Lovro Peraković, as well as musical performances by Ana Ćurić, Tomislav Tomašić, Anja Bakula and professor Dr. Hrvoje Maljak. The programme was further enriched by performances by Matej Nakić, Stefany Žužić with her band, and a joint stage performance by Edi Abazi, Ana Ćurić, Laura Krog and Lovro Peraković.

A special highlight of the evening were the surprise guests – members of the legendary band Dalmatino, Ivo Jagnjić and Zdravko Sunara – who delighted the audience and filled the Crystal Ballroom with energy through their acoustic performance.

We would like to thank all guests, partners, sponsors, donors and friends of the School who supported another edition of the ZSEM Ball and contributed to the success of this evening through their presence and shared spirit. We look forward to future gatherings and to celebrating the jubilee 10th ZSEM Ball.
