Plan for the Future: Success and Discipline

The Right Choice and the Beginning of a Dual Path

Enrolling at ZSEM was not just an academic decision for me, but the beginning of a journey where I learned how far you can go when opportunity, hard work, discipline, and the support of the right people come together. Although I considered studying abroad as a high school senior and had several options in front of me, the scholarship I received and the support I found at ZSEM guided me toward a path that proved to be the right choice. Alongside my studies, I was also building my athletic career.

International Sporting Achievements

I am currently the highest-ranked Croatian fencer on the FIE world ranking list and the 6th-ranked U23 fencer in Europe. This year, I won the FIE Senior World Satellite tournament in Bahrain and placed 2nd at the FIE Senior World Satellite in Rio de Janeiro. I am currently preparing for the Olympic Games qualifications in Los Angeles, and this summer I will represent Croatia at the Mediterranean Games in Italy.

ZSEM’s Support as a Key to Success

Balancing academic responsibilities with training, travel, and competitions is not always easy, but ZSEM has enabled me to give my best in both areas. Professors have always shown understanding for my schedule and frequent absences, while my peers have made studying easier through their support and friendship. Because of this, ZSEM has never been just a university to me, but a community of people who have supported me, believed in me, and stood by me throughout my journey.

The Combination of Sport and Education as an Advantage

I believe that education and sport are not two separate paths, but two forces that complement each other. Sport teaches us discipline, resilience, and how to perform under pressure, while education provides knowledge, stability, and new perspectives. That is why I want to encourage young people, especially athletes, not to give up on education despite demanding schedules. My story shows that with hard work, good organization, and the support of the right people, it is possible to successfully pursue multiple dreams at once. I am truly grateful for the opportunity ZSEM has given me and proud to be part of a community that recognizes and supports ambition, hard work, and excellence.
