The 3rd International Conference on the relation between Artificial Intelligence, Social Sciences, and Humanities

On June 3, 2025, the Zagreb School of Economics and Management, in collaboration with the Luxembourg School of Business, hosted the 3rd International Conference on the Relation Between Artificial Intelligence, Social Sciences, and Humanities. Held at ZŠEM’s campus in Zagreb, the conference gathered international researchers, academics, and professionals to discuss the growing impact of AI on society, ethics, and human values.

The event opened with remarks from Kristijan Krkač, Borna Jalšenjak, and Boris Debić, followed by an introduction to the EUonAIR project by Nikol Njavro, focusing on AI in academic mobility and curriculum development. Two keynote lectures followed: Professor Mehul Bhatt, Professor of Computer Science at Örebro University in Sweden, spoke on the ethico-legal trustworthiness of AI at the intersection of cognitive psychology and design, while Janko Mršić-Flögel, CEO and founder of Planet Computers, reflected on the future of human-AI co-existence.

Participants also engaged in two thought-provoking book discussions, including a presentation on the Croatian translation of Artificial Intelligence: A Modern Approach and Tomislav Bracanović’s Ethics of Artificial Intelligence. The afternoon featured parallel sessions covering a wide range of interdisciplinary topics such as AI in education, ethics, healthcare, theology, and generative AI tools.

The conference concluded with a panel discussion moderated by Ivan David Dogan, featuring Mehul Bhatt, Janko Mršić-Flögel and Boris Debić, exploring the technical and ethical challenges of current and future AI systems.

With nearly a full day of engaging dialogue, the conference highlighted the vital importance of human-centered, ethical, and interdisciplinary approaches to AI. ZŠEM and the Luxembourg School of Business continue to strengthen their position as hubs for critical thinking at the intersection of technology and the humanities.

We extend our sincere thanks to all speakers, participants, and attendees for their valuable contributions – and a special thank-you to the Next Junior Enterprise student club for their outstanding support.
