Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo was founded in 1952.
It is the only educational institution in BiH, which is a member of EFMD and AACSB. EFSA has earned the accreditation of the Austrian Agency for Quality Assurance – AQA. At this point, the EFSA is the only university in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which owns the European accreditation, which means that this institution and its diplomas recognized in the European educational space. The 2009th, EFSA was honored with Eduniversal Palmes Certificate. This certification highlights the growing success of these institutions at the international level and puts the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo HU 1000 best business schools in the world. The city used to be famous for its traditional cultural and religious diversity, with adherents of Orthodoxy, Islam, Judaism and Catholicism and coexisting there for centuries. Sarajevo is also Bosanska metropola due to being the most important and influential city in the whole country. Sarajevo is one of the fastest developing cities in the region. Various new modern buildings have been built, most significantly the Bosmal City Center, BBI Centar and the Avaz Twist Tower, which is the tallest skyscraper in the Balkans. Baščaršija is Sarajevo’s old bazaar and the historical and cultural center of the city. Baščaršija is located on the north bank of the river Miljacka, in the municipality of Stari Grad.
