Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE) is located in Nanchang, the capital city of Jiangxi Province and is comprised of four campus sites: Jiaoqiao, Mailu, Fenglin and Qingshan, covering a total area of 150 hectares.

JUFE, founded in 1923, is under the dual leadership of the Jiangxi Provincial Education Commission and the Ministry of Finance of China. It has now been a comprehensive institution of higher learning focusing on economics and management, as well as the disciplines of law, engineering, the humanities and natural science. JUFE has 21 schools, 20 teaching and research institutes and delivers 48 undergraduate programs, 116 postgraduate programs, 30 doctoral programs and 4 postdoctoral programs. Currently there are 36,000 full-time students enrolled in these programs. JUFE has 1,395 instructors, including 461 PhDs, 232 professors, 378 associate professors and 69 doctoral supervisors.

The Country

Peoples Republic of China is the most populous country in the world with a population of over 1.3 billion and the second largest country by land area covering approximately 9,6 million kilometers. It exercises jurisdiction over twenty two provinces, 5 autonomous regions, 4 direct-controlled municipalities and 2 mostly self-governing special administrative regions (Hong
Kong and Macau). It is situated in the eastern Asia. China is also one of the world fastest growing major economies. As of 2013 it is the world’s second largest economy by both nominal total GDP and purchasing power parity. As a world and especially regional power, People’s Republic of China has been characterized as a potential superpower by numerous commentators.

The City

Nanchang is the capital of Jiangxi Province in southeastern China. As of 2010, a population of 5,042,565 live in the prefecture, in which 2,357,838 live in the built-up area made up of
all five urban districts.[3] Located in the northcentral part of the province, it is bounded on the
west by the Jiuling Mountains, and on the east by Poyang Lake. Because of its strategic location connecting the prosperous East and South China, it has become a major railway hub in Southern China in recent decades. Nanchang has a monsooninfluenced humid subtropical climate with distinct four seasons. Winters are short and cool with occasional frosts; it begins somewhat sunny and dry but becomes progressively wetter and more overcast. Spring begins especially gloomy, and from April to June, each month has more than 220 mm (8.7 in) of rainfall. Summer is long and humid, with amongst the highest temperatures of any Chinese provincial capital, and with the sun shining close to 60 percent of the time in July and August, is the sunniest time of year. Autumn is warm to mild with the lowest rainfall levels of the year.

Student Life

A great variety of cultural activities are organized by the university, such as Cultural and Art
Festival, Ideological and Academic Festival and Society Festival. Those extra-curricular activities give students an opportunity to show their talent as well as to improve their capabilities.

Accommodation

The new Overseas Students Residential Building will be put into use this year. Single
Occupancy Flat is equipped with air-conditioner, telephone, single bed, wardrobe, desk
and chair. Each of the flat has a wash room equipped with electrical heater for shower, toilet and sink. An open kitchen and laundry is provided every other floor. The kitchen is equipped with refrigerator, electrical-magnetic stove and microwave stove. The laundry is equipped with washing-machines. Note: The costs for transportation, textbooks, reference materials, and medical insurance and personal entertainments are still the responsibility of the students .
