ISCTE-IUL Business School

ISCTE Business School is a public university-level institution established in 1972.

It is strategically located in the center of Lisbon. It is directly served by a subway station and a number of convenient city buses that provide fast and easy access to almost everywhere in the city. IBS emerged from the previous management department created in 1972, and is recognized for the excellence of its teaching, research focus, faculty – student interactions, practical approach, meritocracy driven, proximity to the business world, solid connection to entrepreneurship, placement of students, multicultural environment and its international dimension and reputed faculty. IBS currently has about 15% of foreign students and has the largest exchange program in Portugal, receiving annually about 300 students and sending 200 students to study abroad. Under the summer school program, IBS welcomes more than 250 students from 35 countries.

The Country

Portugal is a unitary semi-presidential republic. The City

Lisbon is the westernmost large city located in Europe and the only one along the Atlantic coast, with a population of 547,631 within its administrative limits. It lies in the western Iberian Peninsula on the Atlantic Ocean and the River Tagus. The typical summer season lasts about six months, from May to October. Alcântara and Barrio Alto are areas in Lisbon very attractive to youth because of the number of pubs and discothèques. Torre de Belem is the most famous tower in Lisbon, built as afortified lighthouse to guard the entrance to the port.Other major historical building are the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos and Padrão dos Descobrimentos. Parque das Nações is pedestrian-friendly area with new buildings, restaurants, gardens, the Casino Lisbon, the FIL building (International Exhibition and Fair), the Camões Theatre, as well as the Oceanário de Lisboa (Lisbon Oceanarium), the second largest in the world.

IBS is the most international Portuguese Business School, due to in numerous partnerships and protocols with universities all over the world. One of Lisbon’s largest sports centers, with several sports pavilions, football and rugby fields, jogging tracks, swimming pools, and other sports and fitness facilities is within two minutes walking distance.Ultra-modern and fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology, this center has several study rooms, computer labs, recreational areas, a restaurant, a permanent art gallery, and a modern documentation center.

With the University Residence Professor José Pinto Peixoto, the Lisbon University Institute (ISCTE-IUL) meets some of the accommodation needs of its visiting students and teachers, which, so far have only been served through the room and private house market across Lisbon.
