Winter School 2018/2019

We were happy to guest St. Ambrose University at another Winter School, here at Zagreb School of Economics and Management which took place from December 28, 2018 to January 11, 2019.

The program was called „Leadership in a Croatian Winterland“ with classes focusing on the importance of leadership in an international surrounding. For the second year in a row we welcomed professor Dan Ebener from St. Ambrose University, who along with ZSEM professor Borna Jalšenjak held classes on Leadership topics which students really enjoyed and found useful.

Petra Katić, one of the students, stressed out the benefits of attending the course:

„I wanted to learn about leadership, meet foreign students and talk to native speakers. This program taught me how to use skills we learned in class in the future when I start my business career in Croatia or any other country. Also how to approach certain situations at work place.”

Kilian Eidecker said:

„It was a unique experience to be among so many different nationalities and personalities. I learned a lot throughout the course which I can use in my life.”

Except from attending interesting classes, 25 students from United States and Europe enjoyed many cultural activities and visits to Croatian cities and famous sites.

Skiing on the Medvednica mountain is always a good idea, so students took advantage of Sljeme being so close to the capital city and went on the most popular slopes in Croatia where FIS races(men and women) take place every January.  They have also visited Advent in Zagreb where they ate famous croatian sweets – fritule and drank mulled wine. Students went to Plitvice lakes which is indispensable trip if you are going to Croatia, as well as some Dalmatian cities as Split. Altough it was too cold to swim or sunbath 😉 they took some nice photos and had fun exploring the history of Croatian coast. 😊

We would like to thank all the participants of this year’s winter school. Recommending the program for the next year, Yiming Zhang said
