Minister of Science and Education prof. Radovan Fuchs, PhD, sent congratulations to the President of the ZSEM Program Council, Đuro Njavro, PhD. He congratulated him on his appointment to the highest national body of Croatia, which is in charge of the development and quality of scientific activity, higher education and technological development.
“Science, new technologies and higher education play a key role in the development of any democratic society,” says the letter from Minister Fuchs. The Minister is confident about the National Council’s contribution in achieving the strategic goals of the Republic of Croatia. “I wish you much success in building quality in higher education and research, focusing on measurable excellence outcomes of all stakeholders in higher education and science, on behalf of Croatia,” said Fuchs, PhD.
The Croatian government wants the National Council to strive to increase the success of research at universities, public scientific institutes, and research organizations to achieve competitive participation in international scientific research. Njavro, PhD, expressed satisfaction with the Minister’s message, especially the parts that talk about student-centeredness, harmonization of study programs with labour market developments, improvement of the management and financing system of higher education, and modernization of that system.
In mid-March, the Committee on Education, Science and Culture of the Croatian Parliament proposed to the Parliament accept the appointment of members of the National Council for Science, Higher Education and Technological Development. This letter is another recognition of decades of Njavro’s work on developing and modernization of education and innovation in teaching.
