Mario Rašić, assistant in the Law Department, is participating in the EU project: Towards more effective protection: transformation of the system to combat violence against women, which is headed by Gender Equality Ombudsperson. The aim of the project is to identify, empirically describe, and focus on the existing legal practice that poses obstacles to effective legal persecution and punishment for violence against women. Also, raising awareness of feminism and domestic violence against women are essential segments of this project. The focus is also on advocating for more effective co-operation between the institutions and key agents involved in the prevention, prosecution, and punishment of violence against women. Rašić is currently conducting investigations into cases of criminal and misdemeanor courts, which will identify the main barriers in the judicial system that prevent victims from attaining legal protection.
