The Zagreb School of Economics and Management (ZSEM) founded the first Croatian scientific, educational and business institution whose goal is to systematically and long-term connect Croatia and Southeast Europe with China and Asia – CroAsia Institute (CAI).
Providing analyzes of various aspects of relations between Croatia and neighboring countries with China and Asia, offering a fresh perspective on events of regional and global importance, connecting people, contributing to the exchange of knowledge, educating experts, scientists, students and the general public,
ZSEM’s CroAsia Institute will continuously create a professional interdisciplinary knowledge base, necessary for more efficient and mutually beneficial communication between Croatia, China,
southeastern Europe and Asia.
ZSEM already cooperates with some of the prestigious academic institutions in Asia such as East China University of Science and Technology, Xian International University, Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, Hong Kong Baptist University, Nanyang Technological University Singapore Management University.
Management of the CroAsia Institute, Dean of ZSEM Mato Njavro, PhD, and Zvonimir Stopić, PhD, and Ivica Bakota have more than a decade of uninterrupted experience of active work in Asian countries, either through business collaborations or through research projects and as lecturers in top Asian educational institutions. They are familiar with the culture and business opportunities in the private and public sectors of Asian countries. Mato, Zvonimir and Ivica received their doctorates in economics, finance, international relations, history and politics related to Asia, China, Croatia and the region.
The CroAsia Institute partners are the China-CEE Institute, Beijing Capital Normal University and Beijing Foreign Language University. A group of experts with extensive and versatile international diplomatic and business experience will actively participate in the work of the CroAsia Institute, including former Assistant Secretary General of NATO and Fourth President of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar Kitarović, Executive Vice President and Head of Digital Services in Northeast Asia for Ericsson Siniša Krajnović, Chief Strategist of the Center for Strategic Futures at the Office of the Prime Minister of Singapore Chor Pharn Lee, Gojek Singapore General Manager Lien Choong Luen, Business Leader, Innovation Driver and Digital Marketing Expert Dejan Kutnjak, and Head of Monitoring, Supervision and Control for Asia at UBS Mirko Jurišić. “ZSEM’s CroAsia Institute will strive to provide Croatia with a fresh, new, reasonable and as objective as possible view of Asia and China, both in the current geopolitical and global
