Jilin University, founded in 1946, located in Changchun, the capital city of Jilin Province, is a key national comprehensive university, under the direct jurisdiction of the Chinese Ministry of Education, supported by Project 211 and Project 985.
Jilin University has eight campuses, seven of which are in Changchun and one in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province. Jilin University covers an area of 6.11 million square meters in Changchun and 3.34 million square meters in Zhuhai. The main university library is recognized by UNESCO, UNIDO and the World Bank, and boasts a collection of 6.98 million volumes. It also serves as the
northeast China center for the “China Academic Library & Information System,” one of only
seven centers across China.

Changchun is the capital and largest city of Jilin province, located in the northeast of the People’s Republic of China, in the center of the Songliao Plain. It is administered as a sub-provincial city with a population of 7,677,089 at the 2010 census under its jurisdiction, including counties and county-level cities. The city’s main urban area, including 5 districts
and 4 development areas, has a population of 3,908,048 as of 2010. The name, which means “Long Spring”, originated from the Jurchen language. Known as China’s Automobile City, Changchun is an important industrial base with a particular focus on the automotive sector. Apart from this industrial aspect, Changchun is also one of four “National Garden Cities” awarded by the Ministry of Construction of P.R. China in 2001 due to its high urban greening rate.
The Student Union of Jilin University gives dances or organizes shows and sport games quite
often. Each campus has its places for exercises and sports such as basketball court, soccer field,
table-tennis room, and volleyball court. Most of these are free to students.
Jilin University owns five halls of residence for international students on its campuses, such as
the Friendship Hall, all of which have nice and quiet surroundings with strong academic
atmosphere. In the Friendship Hall, your options include single or double rooms furnished with necessary facilities such as bed, bookshelf, chair, desk, showerhead, satellite-TV, telephone, and the Internet. Each floor in the hall also provides public facilities such as kitchen and washingmachine. In some residential areas, there are gym and business center; besides, food and laundry services are provided.
China has many things to offer, but just around Changchun in the Jilin province there are many natural sites worth a visit. Songhua lake, Ula ancient city, Jingyuetan National Forest Park, Xianghai National Nature Reserve, Chagan lake, Tombs of the ancient Koguryo kingdom, Rime in Jilin, Puppet Machurian Palace Museum, etc. However, if you are not interested in
sightseeing there is also Changchun Film Theme Park located in Changchun. If you want to visit other parts of China, the nearest airport is just 34 km from the center of Changchun.
