HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management is established 1898.

It is a private state approved institution with university status, able to grant doctoral and habilitation degrees. They have AACSB and ACQUIN accreditation. Also there is approximately 550 students, of which 30% international students. They have over 110 partner universities.

The Country

The City

Leipzig is a city in the federal state of Saxony, Germany. It has around 540,000 inhabitants and is the heart of the the Central German Metropolitan Region.  Leipzig is located about 150 kilometres south of Berlin at the confluence of the White Elster, Pleisse, and Parthe rivers at the southerly end of theNorth German Plain. Leipzig has been a trade city, since, at least the time of the Holy Roman Empire, sitting at the intersection of the Via Regia and Via Imperii, two important Medieval trade routes. At one time, Leipzig was one of the major European centers of learning and culture in fields such as music and publishing. After World War II, Leipzig became a major urban center within the German Democratic Republic (East Germany), but its cultural and economic importance declined, despite East Germany being the richest economy in the Soviet Bloc.

According to the one-campus-concept, all HHL buildings, the Faculty of Sport Science of the University Leipzig and a canteen are located in one spot. HHL is surrounded by the green banks of the river Weiße Elster and attractive parkland with extensive sport facilities. It takes about five minutes to downtown thanks to the public transport station not far from HHL.

Travel Opportunities

Some of monuments in Leipzig are:

  • Old Town Hall. built in 1556 in the Renaissance style and remains one of Germany’s largest. The position of the tower follows the ancient ideal of “golden mean”. Located on the pretty main square of the city, it is a good orientation point. One of the most touristy places of the whole city.
  • St. Thomas Church and Bach Museum, Churchtower is open weekends only. The church where Bach worked as a cantor from 1723 until his death in 1750. His remains are buried under a bronze epitaph near the altar.
