Dino Dürrigl works as a senior financial analyst at InterCapital, the largest and most successful investment house in Croatia, and we learned how his path from his studies to his current position went in our conversation with Dino.
After high school, I enrolled in undergraduate studies at the Zagreb School of Economics and Management. I studied in English with international students, and I did an internship on international promotion projects in the Marketing department of ZSEM, which encouraged me to decide to go on an international exchange.
One of the extremely positive opportunities that ZSEM provides are student exchanges that work both ways, so in addition to attracting a lot of international students to ZSEM, they also enable us to go on exchange. In the final year of my studies, I went on an exchange at Charles III University in Madrid, which is certainly one of the most beautiful memories of my student days.
In addition to the exchange, one of the extremely positive aspects of the studies is the fact that ZSEM connects students with professors who have relevant experience in the industry in which they work and teach. The above is a great opportunity for students because it allows them to connect with top experts who are not only theoreticians but really people from the profession. This approach of ZSEM actually influenced my career development. During my undergraduate studies, I met my current employer, who taught me the Business Finance course. Considering that I have always had a great interest in finance, I was also very successful in the course itself, which was noticed by the professor. So in 2017, I had the opportunity to do a rotating internship at InterCapital – the largest and most successful investment house in Croatia, where after finishing my studies I was offered a job in the research and analysis department as an analyst.
I spent a little more than three years at InterCapital, before I went on ZSEM again, but this time on the Graduate MBA Program. The previous work experience actually crystallized my desire for further education in finance, which is why I enrolled in the MBA in Finance and Banking.
I spent my first semester of the MBA program at ZSEM and worked at the same time. The possibility of combining business and student obligations is certainly a very positive aspect of the program, as it enables a relatively simple balancing of time and obligations. As part of the MBA program, I spent the spring semester at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management where I had the opportunity to study at one of the best European business schools in Europe and learn from some of the most influential names in Germany.
I believe that the program was very useful, considering that the knowledge I acquired both at ZSEM and in Frankfurt are very applicable at work, which is the meaning of quality education. In this regard, I think that the MBA in Finance and Banking is a really great program for all those who have a desire to work or already work in the financial industry.
